Dear Holland House Canada Team,
I recently completed my third year at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Engineering, specializing in Systems and Robotics. In 2023, I obtained dual citizenship and am now a proud Dutch-Canadian, fluent in both Dutch and English. I am currently seeking a 12-month internship starting no later than September and am open to relocating anywhere in Canada or Europe.
My interests lie in computer hardware engineering, ASIC design, FPGA programming, and embedded systems. At Queen’s, I designed, built, and debugged analog and digital circuits to meet specific requirements. I used LTspice to simulate my designs and validated them using oscilloscopes and multimeters, which strengthened my ability to test and troubleshoot circuits. I developed a strong understanding of computer architecture and applied it by programming FPGAs in assembly language and C/C++. My coursework also included configuring FPGAs using VHDL. I have hands-on experience constructing and designing PCBs and soldering components.
Beyond academics, I bring strong leadership and teamwork skills. I worked for five years at the Hanover Regional Aquatic Center, advancing from Lifeguard to Head Guard, and ultimately to Team Lead. In this role, I was responsible for staff coordination, resolving operational challenges, and fostering a collaborative work environment. These experiences enhanced my communication abilities, task management skills, and adaptability in fast-paced settings.
If you or any of your partner organizations have internship opportunities available or would be open to a conversation, I would welcome the chance to discuss how my skills and experiences align with your company’s goals. I can send you my résumé, and I’m happy to provide any additional information or documentation upon request. I am eager to contribute to your team and further develop my engineering skills in a meaningful context.
Kind regards,
Thijs Nusselder
