With regards to the current strike that has happened at Canada Post, some of us wonder if the orange envelopes (destined to be sent to The Hague) will make it in time before the election starts.

Here is a detailed explanation on options for getting your vote in, in time.

- send your envelope by registered mail to The Hague. This will be costing you additional expenses aside the regular air-mail postage. Using a courier to send it to The Hague will also come with additional costs.

- On or before 23 October, 2025 the Consulate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Toronto accepts your orange envelope with the full content of what you would normally send to The Hague directly. The Consulate will send all the voting envelopes on October 24th by ‘diplomatic airmail’ to The Hague.

PLS BE AWARE TO ADDRESS THE CONSULATE CORRECTLY using a covering envelope for your orange envelope. You don’t have to put on your personal details as long as you make sure that your orange envelope is securely sent with enough postage to the office in Toronto in time.  But with all the delays, the Consulate cannot foresee any issues of the envelope arriving too late / in time at their offices.

To make sure your envelope arrives before or on 23 October 2025 at the Consulate’s office, either drop it off in person or use a courier and send your orange envelope (in a covering envelope) to :

Pls beware that dropoff hours are Monday to Friday between 09.30AM and 12.30PM

Adress:

The Consulate of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Toronto

1 Dundas Street West
Suite 2106
Toronto, Ontario M5G 1Z3 Canada

Again, no need to put in your personal details in or on the covering envelope.

Posted on June 25, 2025 : The Netherlands will elect a new House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) on Wednesday 29 October 2025. Living in Canada doesn't stand in the way of your right to vote as a Dutch citizen as you can vote abroad by letter, by proxy or with a Voter's Pass. But there are regulations in place to do so. Amongst others you'd have to register as a Form "Kiezer buiten Nederland". Also the registration process takes up some time so registration in time is advised.

This INFORMATION SHEET provides practical information and links about how voters outside the Netherlands can vote and which dates are important.
